CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND SEN
Assessment of Children with additional needs (including SEND) are at times complex and involve a wide range of professional experts. This is because of their high care needs, increased vulnerability or the range of other factors.
6% (over 750,000) of children in the UK have a disability. Parenting children with disabilities can come with additional challenges, which can heighten the potential for abuse or neglect, many of which can be difficult to identify.
Equally, parents and carers can struggle to get the right support and services for their children which is extremely important in the context of a society where there remains much prejudice and barriers to disabled children and their families.
Mhuri Expert services is committed to working with local authority teams and independent providers and families to produce the best outcomes for children with disabilities. We have experts who are knowledgeable, experienced and skilled at working with and supporting families, providers and local authorities in completing these complex assessments.

PARENT CARER ASSESSMENTS AND CARE PACKAGE REVIEWS
Mhuri Experts have a wealth of experience in completing parent carers needs assessments which considers the individual needs of a parent carer and their wellbeing.
In completing our assessments we work not only with the family but with the multi-professional network around the child.
These assessments can be completed as a single piece of work or can be combined with an assessment of the child's individuals needs to form a holistic child and family needs assessment and care plan.
Our assessments consider issues of risk and safeguarding and we are able to make recommendations around next steps including reviewing and recommending appropriate short break packages.

FIRST TIER TRIBUNALS
Mhuri Experts can work with parents and local authorities where there are disputes around local authority decisions regarding special educational needs, including decisions to:
Assess a child or young person’s Educational, Health and Care (EHC) needs
Reassess their EHC needs
Issue an EHC plan
Change what’s in a child or young person’s EHC plan
Maintain the EHC plan
We also complete case file audits where there are disputes relating to discrimination by schools or local authorities due to a child’s disability.
